Hunter Doherty “Patch” Adams (born May 28, 1945) is an American physician, comedian, social activist, clown, and author. He founded the Gesundheit! Institute in 1971. Each year he also organizes volunteers from around the world to travel to various countries where they dress as clowns to bring humor to orphans, patients, and other people.[1]

Adams is currently based in Urbana, Illinois. In collaboration with the institute, he promotes an alternative health care model not funded by insurance policies.[1]

Elvis Francois, M.D. (born 1985[1][2]), also known as Dr. Elvis,[1] is an American orthopedic surgeon and amateur singer known for making inspirational viral videos of his singing before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Francois was named after Elvis Presley, of whom his mother was a fan.[3]

In April 2020, Francois released an EP titled “Music is Medicine” to raise funds for COVID-19 relief.[1][4] It was recorded, mixed and mastered at Carpet Booth Studios in Rochester, Minnesota.[1][4]

Francois and Dr. William Robinson, known as the “Singing Surgeons”, performed “God Bless America” during the NBC Special “Back Home Again” on May 24, and performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the 2020 Indianapolis 500.[5]

Francois completed a 5-year residency at the Mayo Clinic in June 2020, and completed a 3-month spine surgery fellowship at Harvard Medical School in November 2020.[2]

In 2020, Francois appeared in season four of The Masked Singer as “Serpent” who was the first character with animatronic parts. He was eliminated in the eighth episode alongside Lonzo Ball as “Whatchamacallit”.[6]

Francois was named to the People Magazine “Sexiest Man Alive” list for 2020.

Gary Cantlon pounds the keyboard from the back of his pickup parked across from Riverfront Park in downtown Spokane, Wednesday June 15, 2022, during the annual Street Music fundraiser.  (Christopher Anderson For The Spokesman-Review) Cantlon, a retired ear, nose and throat doctor who worked in the Spokane area for more than 40 years, was one of more than 50 acts busking for donations to Second Harvest Inland Northwest during the 20th annual Street Music Week in downtown Spokane.

Cantlon taught himself piano after he retired. He said he’s always loved playing music, and used to play the bass in a band composed of fellow ear, nose and throat doctors. They went by the name “Snot Bad,” Cantlon said .

“A bunch of the doctors were musicians so we all played,” Cantlon said. “We made our staff suffer.” Cantlon played a stand-up piano in the back of his crimson Ford F-350 across the street from Riverfront Park, playing hits from artists from several eras, including the Eagles and Bruno Mars. A sign on the side of the truck read “without music and food, life would B# (be flat).”
